I am playing with bringing the viewer into feeling the atmosphere, movement, texture and aura of my subjects.  For landscapes, I often use a leaf, twig or grass from the area near the final stage of painting, allowing the prickly or willowy familiarity that can only be achieved by using the natural form itself.  For portraits, I am attracted to the many colors that make a personality or moment of movement that captured my interest in the first place.
